Reflecting on my studies in part 3, I am pleased to acknowledge the significant expansion and reinforcement of my knowledge of brass instruments and instrumental choirs. Although I had previously studied the brass section, delving deeper into this subject matter through this part of the course helped further solidify my understanding.

The research conducted on the history of the development and repertoire of brass instruments was particularly enlightening. In project 3.2, I was given the opportunity to explore Brass Bands, which I had only heard of before this course. Through this project, I gained insight into the compositional techniques utilized by Brass Bands, and I feel that this newfound knowledge will positively complement my own awareness of additional ways of composition.

During my listening and reflection exercises, I understood the crucial role that Jazz has played in the evolution of music, particularly in terms of rhythmic aspects, genre fusion, and syncopation. I also gained a newfound appreciation for the history of Brass Bands and Wind Bands, particularly in the context of their use in war environments for motivational purposes.

Finally, the experience of orchestrating for voices and alternative ensembles has been incredibly positive and has reinforced my previous knowledge of composition and instrumentation. I feel that my interaction between analysis, composition, and orchestration in part 3 has elevated my understanding and creativity to a new level of comprehension. I am optimistic that this newfound understanding will benefit my future compositions, and I am eager to continue learning in parts 4 and 5.
