Reflection

For these three miniatures, I focused on different orchestral eras, and after quick research, in addition to the knowledge acquired in previous modules, I came up with some ideas. In the romantic era I introduced the instrument oboe d’amore, and in the classical period I tried my best to keep the horns aligned to the overtone series as they did not have tubes. In the miniature Voiles, I had more freedom of instrumentation as in the 20th century there were more focus on the experimental sounds including percussion section. In all the orchestration I have offered a variety of texture, dynamic, tone, timbres and orchestration techniques not included in the original miniatures. I feel that the emotional impact of the orchestration has been achieved and with my tutors guidance I will improve in my orchestration skills.
