Preparation
Comparing Ligeti bagatelles with the musica ricercata, it feels that Musica Recercata is the equivalent of Bartok’s two compositions for assignment 2, whilst bagatelles are the equivalent of what can be done with a piano composition. As analysed in the exercise and from the feedback of the tutor from part one, the aim will be to manage the textures so it is balanced and not too heavy. Also, the thematic material will pass from one instrument to another. Treble clef will be assigned to flute, oboe, clarinet, and bass clef to horn and bassoon when the pitches are compatible. The distribution of material will be even to all instruments in order to achieve balance and interest.

c) lookup for unplayable notes and re-assign them appropriately.
d) Listen to the piece generally and pay attention to the individual characteristics of instruments as per the research and listening.
e) space the chords appropriately to the instruments.
